Environmental graphics and signage project for Google São Paulo’s multidisciplinary space for the general public.
Laje is a multidisciplinary space at Google São Paulo, used mostly for general public events. Inspired by Caetano Veloso’s song “Sampa”, which had its 40th anniversary in 2018, the same project’s year, the immersive area reverberates sensations, and incorporates a visual representation of sound waves.
Coated by a wavy “skin”, with a topography built from the vibrations of “Sampa”’s musical notes, Google São Paulo’s multidisciplinary event space is located at a gap between Pátio Malzoni building’s two towers.
Its immersive features are enhanced by the lighting design, which creates an optical illusion on a panel, with graphisms that reveal Google’s logo.
Intended for general audiences’ everyday use, the space’s signage design occupies unusual surfaces, such as the floor, becoming visible and assimilable in a fluid manner, while maintaning the structure’s conceptual style.
